Citation query engine duplicates citation source nodes when the citation chunk size is smaller than the retrieved node
EVIDENCE FAILUREseverity: LOWcause: LIKELYoutcome: RESOLVED UNVERIFIEDconfidence: LOW
In LlamaIndex 0.12.5, CitationQueryEngine split retrieved nodes into citation chunks; when citation_chunk_size was smaller than the node content, the resulting citation sub-nodes were duplicated, producing duplicated context and source nodes. The reporter traced it to TextNode.model_validate returning the same node instance instead of a new one.
